6 Tips for Outdoor Events

Warmer weather is here and summer is just around the corner, which means the season of outdoor weddings and al fresco parties is here!

Whether you’re hosting a large outdoor wedding or a small backyard bbq, there are a handful of basic elements you need to consider in order to nail a perfect outdoor affair!

1. Menu

It goes without saying that food should be one of your major considerations. Consider opting for a smaller menu with fewer items that are prepared impeccably. Always prep as much as possible beforehand so you can spend more time with your guests and less time cooking. If you’re BBQing, have your sides prepared and make sure all the meat is ready to go on the grill when the guests arrive. Also, ensure you have a full tank or propane, or adequate charcoal.

2. Drinks

Whether you’re serving drinks in cans/bottles or glasses, ensure you have plenty to go around, extra ice, and water readily available. If you’re going the self-serve route, spruce up your drink stations with steel tubs. Having a few dedicated places for guests to put their empties or their dirty glasses will help keep things tidy. If you want to offer fun summer cocktails or mocktails, consider pre-mixing them in pitchers to save time.

3. Seating

Folding chairs and tables are versatile options that are especially easy to transport. If you’re looking for something a little more elevated, our Antique Vineyard Chairs and Farm Tables are both rustic and elegant.

4. Lighting

Decorative lighting can have a big impact on your event, and is necessary if you’re planning on entertaining into the evening. String lights and tiki torches are both great options for creating a romantic atmosphere.

5. Climate Control

Even in the height of summer, it’s impossible to plan for the weather, so be prepared for anything and have a back up plan for rain. To keep your guests comfortable, consider umbrellas for shade, and heaters or blankets for when the evening cools off. Depending on when your event is, you may have to consider pests. Citronella candles or electric fans are effective ways to keep mosquitos away. If you’re planning to have music, make sure you’re aware of the noise ordinances of your municipality.

6. Washroom

Finally, make sure you have adequate bathroom facilities and supplies for the number of guests you have.
