Healthy and delicious, homemade hummus is easy to make and a great appetizer choice for Spring parties. It’s fresh, light and can be paired with tortilla chips or raw veggies!

What you’ll need:
1 ½ cups of chickpeas (15-ounce can)
1 large lemon – ¼ cup of lemon juice
¼ cup tahini
1 garlic clove
2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil, with extra for serving
½ teaspoon ground cumin
Salt to taste
2 to 3 tablespoons of water
Fresh parsley
Pinch of paprika
Food Processor
How to make homemade hummus!

Get all of your ingredients ready. Open the can of chickpeas, drain, and set aside.
Place tahini paste and lemon in food processor. Blend for 30 seconds or until fluffy and scrape the sides. This will help give the hummus a creamy texture.

Add garlic, cumin, olive oil, and salt to the whipped tahini and lemon juice. Blend for 30 seconds or until well blended.

Add half of the chickpeas to the tahini mixture. Blend for 1 minute before adding the remaining chickpeas. Blend again for 1 to 2 minutes. If the hummus is too thick, turn the food processor on low and add a small amount of the water at a time until you get the desired consistency.

Prep a small bowl or two to serve the hummus in. Pedersen’s Flared Fruit Nappy is the perfect choice! Serve the hummus with some chips in our 10” Flared Bowl

Place a heaping amount of hummus in the small bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle some paprika and fresh parsley on top! So simple yet so delicious!
We chose to serve the hummus with some organic tortilla chips but it also goes great with a platter of raw veggies! Place any extra hummus in a sealed container and refrigerate for up to one week.

Enjoy!
