A Sustainable Wedding Shoot at the Fairmont Waterfront
- Aug 21, 2020
Although the 2020 wedding season (and every other aspect of the year) has been faced with numerous challenges, we have still been fortunate to be involved in some very special intimate events. At the beginning of March, right before Covid broke out, we collaborated with the talented Natasha Thom of Clearwater Events for a shoot at the Fairmont Waterfront. It’s amazing how much has changed since this shoot took place but one thing that hasn’t changed is the ability for couples to have a very special wedding day.
When this shoot initially took place, we imagined these designs featured in large weddings full of family and friends. However, with current state of the world, large events have been put on hold for the foreseeable future. This does not mean that love is cancelled or that glamorous events cannot happen. In fact, the opposite is true. Small weddings can be just as wonderful and in some ways, even more meaningful!
For this shoot, Natasha wanted to showcase two designs, each would fit a different budget and have a sustainable twist – Clearwater Events is all about producing sustainable weddings! Here’s a few words from Natasha about the inspiration behind her designs:
“I’ve always had a thing for blue, and over the years, our Clearwater clients have too! I really wanted to do another blue shoot, showcasing two styles, two budgets, all with a sustainable twist. The tableware was all rented, the stationery was made on FSC paper, the dresses were made locally, and the flowers were seasonal.
The "higher budget" look still focused on intentional design with some higher-end finishes like the crystal glassware and the beautiful gold ribbon chairs. For the more budget friendly look, since we decided to invest in the tableware (Pedersen's Stoneware and Velo Flatware), we decided to keep the florals very simple.
We know that couples have different priorities in their wedding, so we're big believers that you should invest more in what means the most to you, and pull back on the things lower down on the list. In the end, it's going to be beautiful!”
These designs would be just a perfect for a party of 10 as they would be for a party of 200!
